Present:

Ms Y Browne (Y1 /2)

Mr C V. Morris (Y6)

Ms J Caton (Y1 /2 and Nursery)

Ms Underwood (Y2)

Staff members: Mrs A Morgan and Mrs C Gorwill

Role of parent forum - It was discussed that more clarification is needed about the role of the PTA versus the role of the Parent Forum. It was suggested that communication needs to be sent out to parents to explain each role.

Parent forum numbers - Suggestions of how to increase the number of parents involved with the Parent Forum were discussed. Mrs Morgan shared how a number of different strategies have been previously used to try to increase parental engagement. She discussed how we used to have a Parent Rep from each class to ensure that all classes were represented in the forum. A few parents asked about experimenting with different times for the forum - after school hours were discussed.

Communication - All parents agreed that communication has been better recently and that they appreciate knowing about events in advance. Parents appreciated a welcome letter that was sent out by some staff members with regards to PE days, etc on the first day of the school year.

School meals - one parent raised the fact that they were unhappy with the removal of the daily baguette option on the school menu and that they did not agree with the portion sizes of the meals. It was discussed that many parents are unaware that the school is not in control of the menu.

PTA events - one parent asked if PTA events could be held during the school day. Ms Thomas explained that this is not always possible as the PTA cannot charge for tickets plus events during the day would disrupt learning time.

Parent questionnaire - one parent asked about what happens to the results of the parent questionnaire. They would like to know how many people respond to the questionnaire and what the responses are. The last questionnaire took place in March 2025 and the results were shared with parents/carers through the newsletter dated 28th March 2025 along with the number of responses (19). It was agreed that it would be a good idea for the parents in the forum to have an input in the next questionnaire. As time was limited during this meeting, Ms Thomas was going to ask the parents who attended the meeting for their ideas for the questionnaire.
