Along with the other schools in our Penarth Cluster, we will be holding a non-uniform day next Tuesday, 4th February, to raise funds for Asthma UK.
This event is in memory of Hannah French, who was a pupil at Stanwell School when she died from an asthma attack, at just 12 years old, on 4th February 2010. Hannah’s family have arranged this day to mark the tenth anniversary of Hannah’s death, and have requested that bright colours should be worn.
Please bring a small donation if you would like to contribute.
HOCKEY CLUB CANCELLED
There will be no hockey club on Tuesday 4th February and Tuesday 11th February as Mrs Munro-Morris is unavailable. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
The majority of children really did not like the pulled pork rolls on Thursday of the Week 2 menu. As a result, starting from next week, the menu will revert to Roast Pork and stuffing. The printed menu will shortly be changed to reflect this and then updated on the school website.
DIGITAL PARENTING BOOKLET
Every family has today received a ‘Digital Parenting’ booklet. This has been designed to give practical advice on how families can stay safe online.
We would be grateful if you could talk to your children about the need to be safe online and discuss the issues raised in the booklet with them. Many thanks.
WORLD BOOK DAY 2020
We are very much looking forward to celebrating World Book Day on Friday 6th March (a day later than the rest of the country due to our Eisteddfod celebrations and immersion days).
The children will not need a costume but will all be taking part in a variety of exciting book-related activities during the day with an emphasis on encouraging children to read for pleasure.
Your class teacher will let you know if there are any activities that your child needs to prepare for or to bring in anything from home. We can’t wait to spend the day sharing our love of reading with the children too!
Following the success of the recent Karate taster sessions which took place in school, there will be a Karate Club starting after half-term. Details are on the attached flyer, and consent forms are available from the school office.
Our combined attendance this week was 94.2%, back below our target of 96.3%.
Top of the Foundation Phase this week is Mrs Boyle’s Y1 class on 98.3% while Mrs Morgan’s Y4 class tops the KS2 table with a perfect 100%! Well done to both classes – they will get a sticker on the graph and extra play next week!

👖👔👚THE BIG CLOTHES DROP OFF 👗👘👕🥼
Following on from last years successful clothes drop we will be doing another one this spring!
Bags will be coming home week commencing 3rdFeb and then they will need to be returned to school on the morning of 4th March (at school drop off) as the collection is between 9am and 1pm on that day. Unfortunately, the school doesn’t have the space to store bags beforehand.
Remember unlike other clothes drops you can also get rid of curtains and bedding! The heavier the better as the more money for the school!!!
This year we’re opening this to the wider community so if you have any family and friends from outside school please spread the word – spare bags will be available from the office. This is an easy money maker for the school and good for our soul to have a good old clear out – please support.
Whilst you’re sorting out your clothes please keep any Christmas jumpers aside as we will be holding another sale next November. Please pass these to a PTA member as we’ll store until next year.
REMEMBER REUSABLE PARTY CUPS AND PLATES FOR HIRE.
To support our schools ethos of reducing single use plastic we invite you to hire our reusable party equipment. Please see attached leaflet for details.
