Minutes for the Parent Forum Meeting held on 3 October 2024 at Sully PS

Time and format of meetings: Is there an assumption that lots of parents attend? School to send
out. Ms Thomas has agreed to be Chair of PF. It was felt that the PTA and PF could work more
in unison. Can the school ask parents again? Reminders to go out. Biscuits.

Reviewed points from last meeting.

Communication: It was felt that communication around the start of the year, e.g. P.E.
dates/uniform needs, Nature-based Learning were not received in good time to allow for parents
to purchase/pack clothing.

Transitions: it was reported that many parents felt that the transition process was far more
positive for their children. They particularly felt that pupils had more of an opportunity to meet
their new teacher and spend time in their new classes.

Dates of events: It was felt that perhaps termly updates of dates could be sent out. It was
discussed that these were put on the newsletter but that this was the only place where it was
available.

School-based Apps: It was discussed whether the school had considered using a school-based
app e.g. Seesaw, Schoop, ClassDojo. And whether the use of these would signal a move away
from using X as the continued use of this site was a concern among some parents.

Smartphones in school: Are the school considering joining/working with the ‘Smartphone Free
Wales’ campaign. Smartphone use in school was discussed and the school’s current policy was
explained.

Active Travel: It was hoped that the school would use the new footpath to promote active travel
It was proposed that a January date be set for the next meeting.
