What does ‘English as an Additional Language’ or ‘EAL’ mean?
We classify people as EAL if they moved to an English-speaking country and their first language is not English, in particular schoolchildren. EAL can also refer to English taught to all people whose first language is not English.
We welcome families from across the globe to Sully Primary School and as a result have a wide range of ethnic and linguistic diversity. We support our EAL pupils and their families as they access the curriculum and develop their knowledge of the English language.
We are very happy to support our EAL families if they need assistance or guidance with school paperwork or school documentation – please feel free to ask for any support that you may need.
