                      Transition

At Sully Primary we believe that there are key transition points in a child’s academic life during their time in primary school and our vision is for our learners, parents and staff to experience a seamless transition from one phase into the next.

Transition from Key Stage 2 (Juniors) to Key Stage 3 (Stanwell School)

At Sully Primary School we place great emphasis on our strong links with our partners at Stanwell School. Our well established relationship supports a smooth transition for pupils from primary into secondary education.

A comprehensive and highly effective transition programme is normally in place for our Year 6 pupils who visit Stanwell on a regular basis throughout the year.  However this year as a result of the Coronavirus situation, these visits have not been possible.  Stanwell are aware of this, and so have produced a Transition Booklet and a series of videos to aid the process without visits.

Please find below links to a series of videos Stanwell School has made to aid the transition process this year. It is advisable to watch the videos in order but it is not essential to watch them all in one sitting. There is a lot of information contained in the videos and it is worth both pupils and parents/carers engaging with the content of each one.

The videos include:

Video 1- A welcome from our Headteacher and virtual tour with narration

Video 2- Messages and advice from Stanwell Staff and pupils

Video 3- Information about catering facilities

As Stanwell School is not able to facilitate school visits for Year 6 this year, the first school day in September will be designated for Year 7 pupils only with no older pupils on site. This will allow Stanwell time to make sure that all new Year 7 pupils are comfortable and familiar with their new surroundings.

Stanwell has also created a designated email address, shown both on this video and the transition booklet sent through earlier this week. This can be used by parents and pupils if, after you have watched the videos and engaged with the booklet, you still have questions about starting with Stanwell in September. Both the videos and the transition booklet can also be found on the Stanwell School Website under the heading Transition Information (Year 7, 2020).
