LLAIS GROUPS

We have had a busy week in school setting up our brand new Llais groups!  The aim of these groups is to give all pupils from Years 2 to 6 the opportunity to have a ‘voice’ in the day-to-day running of the school, the planning of future events and the development of our approach to the New Curriculum.  We plan for these groups to meet on a regular basis.  Our groups are: Criw Cymraeg; Well-Being Warriors; Curriculum Cadets; International Links; Eco Council; Sully Senedd; Values and Rights of a Child; Well-Being Warriors; E-Safety and Digital Leaders and Community Cadets.  Further details about each group will be included on the school website.

BRITISH FOOD FORTNIGHT

British Food Fortnight starts on Monday, to raise awareness of how great British food is and to promote local produce. Here is a link to the website http://www.lovebritishfood.co.uk/ where parents and pupils can see how to get involved through different activities.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Now that everyone has settled in, we are starting our attendance graph again.  The best attendees thus far this term are Mrs Boyle’s Y1 class in the foundation phase, and Miss Eaton’s Y3 class in KS2. These two classes will get the inaugural stickers on this year’s graph!

PTA NEWS

We were delighted to see so many parents at our recent PTA AGM held at the Sully Conservatives Club. We said a fond farewell to Mrs Redford who has worked tirelessly as Chair of the PTA and elected a new PTA committee for the current academic year.

Mrs Katie Armitage will take up the role of PTA Chair for this year with Mrs Lucy Kettlety acting as Vice Chair. The Secretary role will be shared by Mrs Paula Davies-Ball and Mrs Vicky Judd.

However we are still looking for a new Treasurer. Mr James Redford has kindly agreed to remain in the post for a short time while a new Treasurer is sought from our parent body and he will be happy to support a period of transition and provide any mentoring required. This role involves paying-in money raised from any events, keeping careful accounts of any monies in and out of the PTA account along with other financial roles. If you are interested in this role please speak to the school office who will pass your information onto the Chair of the PTA.

The PTA made a fantastic £15,319 profit in the last academic year. To date we have donated almost £10,000 to the school going towards various projects namely outdoor learning equipment, four new chrome books and reading books, to name but a few and not forgetting that we are saving for improvements to our school hall.

The minutes from the AGM will be posted shortly on the PTA section of the school website. Please take the time to read them for further information.

****WANTED**** does anyone have a UV light we could borrow please?

Apologies for mentioning Christmas already but we will be sending out blank templates for Christmas cards within the next week or two. The earlier we submit the children’s designs and place orders, the bigger the discount for parents who wish to purchase them. Please take the time to help your child design a masterpiece for grandparents, family and friends to enjoy!
