ATTENDANCE FOR THE YEAR
The winners of the attendance treat in the Foundation Phase were Mr Jarvis’s Y2 class, and in KS2, Miss Martin’s Y6 class came out on top. Well done to both classes.
We will clear the graph this week and start afresh in September. Who will come out on top next year?
Y6 MUSICIANS
Please could any Y6 leavers who have school-owned instruments please return them before the end of term. Thank you!
RELIEF MIDDAY SUPERVISORS
If anyone would like to be a relief midday supervisor from September, please contact the school office.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We would be very grateful if any parent or grandparent would be able to help us freshen up the school with a lick of paint over the summer holidays. The school will be open for the first week and the last two weeks of the holidays.
Please contact the school office if you are able to help.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS
If you think your child may be entitled to free school meals, take a look at the Vale of Glamorgan Council website under living/schools/school_meals/Free School Meals. If you do qualify, please apply as directed during the summer, ready for September.
ONE WAY SYSTEMS
Please remember the one-way systems in place during drop-off and pick-up times. We would ask that you drive down Burnham Avenue from South Road and then along Smithies Avenue from the school. At the other side of the school, please drive down Minehead Avenue and then continue around the loop rather than trying to turn around.
While these are voluntary, if we all co-operate it makes life so much easier and less dangerous for everyone!

THANKS TO THE PTA
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the PTA for all their efforts and hard work throughout the year and to also thank everyone who supported our school Fete on Saturday. I think you will all agree when I say ‘a good time was had by all’. Monies raised throughout the year by the PTA will be spent on further equipping our school with resources which will support the learning opportunities of all our pupils. Examples of resources to be purchased are:
- Wooden outdoor equipment including a sandpit, acting stage with backdrop, large balance scales, building blocks, storage boxes and seating.
- Prams, bicycles, scooters, sand/ water toys, small world figures, calculators, electrical circuits, media equipment and seating for the sides of the stage in order for all children to be seen and heard during concerts.
Finally we would like to give a special thank you to Michaela and James Redford who have worked tirelessly over the past several years organising and running numerous successful events for which we are immensely grateful.
PTA NEWS
Thank you to Parents, Teachers and all the volunteers who helped support the Summer Fayre & Circus to make it such a great success. In total the event made over £7,600 for the school!
For the year the PTA has raised a record-breaking £14,500 for the school which is well in excess of our £10,000 target.
We will be having a playground sale next week to clear some of the PTA Sweets, Drinks and gift stock. Find us in the Junior playground from 3.20pm, next Monday to Thursday.
