NO CLUBS NEXT WEEK
There will be no school-run after-school clubs next week due to teacher meetings and training sessions. French Club and Minecraft will continue as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
The minutes of the recent Parent Forum meeting are now on the school website, under the ‘Parent Zone’ heading.
We would like to have a representative from each class if at all possible, to get ideas and opinions from throughout the school.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 3rd March at 9.00am in the staffroom, and all parents and carers would be most welcome.
Along with the other schools in our Penarth Cluster, we will be holding a non-uniform day on Tuesday 4th February to raise funds for Asthma UK.
This event is in memory of Hannah French, who was a pupil at Stanwell School when she died from an asthma attack, at just 12 years old, on 4th February 2010. Hannah’s family have arranged this day to mark the tenth anniversary of Hannah’s death, and have requested that bright colours should be worn.
Please bring a small donation if you would like to contribute.
Parents and children have recently mentioned to us their concerns about the number of cars sitting outside school, and elsewhere, with their engines idling. An idling engine can produce up to twice as many exhaust emissions as an engine in motion, all of which contribute to lung conditions such as asthma as well as global warming.
Please bear this in mind when you are dropping off and picking up, and perhaps your child would like to look at the following link for more information: https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/47453923
A REQUEST FROM RECEPTION
The Reception classes would be very grateful if anyone has any leggings, jogging bottoms or socks, size approximately age 3 to 5 years, that they could donate to their emergency supply. Please drop them in to the Reception teachers or the school office. Thank you!
Following the recent election, Mrs Vicki Judd has been re-elected as a Parent Governor. Thank you to everyone who put themselves forward and also to everyone who voted.
There is a quantity of un-named, non-uniform lost property left from last term, including a number of winter coats. Please come to the school office if you think any of it could be yours – it will be disposed of at the end of next week if not claimed by then.
Our combined attendance this week was 95.3%, again below our target of 96.3%.
Top of the Foundation Phase was Mrs Best and Mrs Reynold’s reception class on 96.8% while Mr Blasizza and Miss Gilmore’s Y6 class are the KS2 winners with 97.2%! Well done to both classes – they will get a sticker on the graph (when it is put back on the wall) and extra play next week!
REMEMBER—A DAY MISSED CAN IMPACT ON YOUR CHILD’S PROGRESS IN SCHOOL
Happy New Year from the PTA team!!
We’re holding our first meeting on Wednesday 15th at Sully Constitutional Club from 7.30pm, during which we intend to plan out the remaining events for 2019/20 academic year. Please come along if you wish to help and get involved.
👖👔👚THE BIG CLOTHES DROP OFF 👗👘👕🥼
Following on from last year’s successful clothes drop we will be doing another one this spring!
Bags will be coming home week commencing 3rdFeb and then they will need to be returned to school on the morning of 4th March (at school drop off) as the collection is between 9am and 1pm on that day. Unfortunately, the school doesn’t have the space to store bags beforehand.
Remember that unlike other clothes drops you can also get rid of curtains and bedding! The heavier the better as the more money for the school!!!
This year we’re opening this to the wider community so if you have any family and friends from outside school please spread the word – spare bags will be available from the office. This is an easy moneymaker for the school and good for our soul to have a good old clear out – please support.
Whilst you’re sorting out your clothes please keep any Christmas jumpers aside as we will be holding another sale next November. Please pass these to a PTA member as we’ll store until next year.
Keep your eyes peeled for future events and, as always, thank you for your support.
