As Red Nose Day falls so close to St David’s Day and World Book Day, we have decided not to take part this year.  If you have already bought a red nose or deeley boppers, your child is very welcome to wear them next Friday, no donation is required!

We have been advised by the Vale of Glamorgan Catering Department that there will be a 5p price increase in the price of school meals from Monday April 1st  – meals will then cost £2.30 per day.

Please confirm your attendance at your appointment for next week’s Parents’ Evenings if you have not already done so.  Please enter school via the main Burnham Avenue entrance only.

A reminder for the parents of children in Mrs Boyle’s Y3 class that her Parents’ Evening is postponed until further notice.

Due to Parents’ Evenings, there will be no school-run after-school clubs next week.  This includes Code Club (see below), but Mrs Goodwin will be holding French Club as usual on Tuesday.

Code Club for the Year 3 and 4 pupils has now come to end as the children have completed the set programme of study.  Mr Gauci and Mr Thomas would like to thank all the children who were involved for their enthusiasm and commitment to the course.

Code club will recommence on Thursday 4th April and Year 5 and 6 children will be invited to attend the six week programme of study. More information will follow closer to the time.

Please remember to return your child’s PE kit to school after its half-term wash!

We still need volunteers to help at next week’s Book Fair.  Please contact the school office if you are able to help at any session either before or after school – we would be very grateful!

Attached to this newsletter is an entry form for children in our Reception and Year 1 classes who might like to enter a colouring competition to win a free week of crash course swimming lessons at Barry, Penarth or Llantwit Major Leisure Centre.

Also attached is the timetable for free swimming sessions and free structured lessons taking place during the Easter Holidays.

Cardiff and Vale Music Service is organising a ‘Learn to Play’ day on Saturday 23rd March in conjunction with Pencerdd Music in Penarth. There will be teachers of brass, woodwind, strings and guitar available all day, so please pop in for a free taster lesson.  A flyer is attached with more details.

Lessons in all these instrument groups are available in school, either through the CAVMS or with independent teachers, so if your child is inspired please contact the office for further details.

Our whole-school attendance figure for this week is 97.2%, above our school target of 96.4%!
