ADVANCE NOTICE – INSET DAY
Monday 2nd September is an INSET day for all Vale schools. Pupils will return to school after the summer holidays on Tuesday 3rd September.
HEALTH AND WELLBEING WEEK
The week of 17-24th June is Health and Well-being week in Sully School. As part of the programme for the week we will be offering sessions in peer massage to the children. Please see more information attached to this newsletter.
Childcare funding has been available in the Vale of Glamorgan since April 2019. Across the Vale, there are currently 569 children receiving up to 17.5 hours of funded childcare to complement their early education place in school and there are 163 Childcare providers registered to deliver the childcare offer.
Applications for children eligible for the funding from September 2019 will open on June 10th – these are children born between 1st April 2016 and 31st August 2016. Parent applications submitted by June 28th will be responded to by July 19th, and funding will commence for eligible parents on September 2nd.
A parent drop-in session will be held at the Dock Office in Barry on June 11th, from 4.30-6.30pm, to provide information and support to parents/carers. Please see the attached poster for more details.
ENTRY TO SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS
Please may we remind you that entry to the school during the school day is only through the main gate on Burnham Avenue – please do not ring the buzzer on the Minehead Avenue gate as this disturbs the Nursery class. When entering the school during the school day you are requested to report to the school office.
AFTER-SCHOOL USE OF EQUIPMENT
Please can we ask you not to allow your children to use any school equipment out of school hours, as we cannot take responsibility for any accidents that may occur.
ATTENDANCE FOR THE WEEK
Our whole-school attendance figure for this week is just 95.1, which is below our school target of 96.4%.
Individual class figures were as follows:
So Mr Jarvis’s Y2 class were yet again the winners in the Foundation Phase this week and Mrs Sheldon and Mrs Morgan’s Y3 class came out top of KS2 – congratulations to them. Both classes will have extra play next week and another sticker on the graph…..
Thank you to all those who have returned their sponsored bounce money so far. Please return any money to school as soon as possible.
Thank you to everyone who supported the sports day cake and drink sale – we raised £285 for the school!
Father’s Day Sale Friday 14th June
We have lots of lovely gifts ready for the children to choose for their Dads. If you do have any unwanted gifts, they would be greatly appreciated, please send them into school asap.
On Friday 14th, please send your child into school with some money to buy the gifts in an envelope clearly marked with their name and ‘Father’s Day Sale’ – gifts will range from £1 to £5 each and children can purchase multiple gifts if they wish.
Summer Fayre & Circus – Saturday 6th July (12.30 to 5.00)
We have had a few questions about the format of this year’s Summer Fayre. The Fayre is a normal Summer Fayre with all the usual stalls, games, food & entertainment and in addition we have 3 professional Circus performances at 1.00pm, 2,30pm & 4.00pm. The Fayre starts at 12.30 and finishes at 5.00pm. Entrance to the Fayre only is £2, payable at the gate on the day. The Circus performances are £7 per person (Including Fayre entry) and we recommend you buy Circus tickets before the day as we predict they will sell out – the 1.00pm & 2.30pm performances are almost gone!
Circus tickets can be bought online at www.pta-events.co.uk/sullyschool or contact Michaela (07919043310) if you are unable to buy online and we can arrange to purchase by cash or card.
Clothes Weigh In
Don’t forget in July we are going to do a whole school clothes weigh in, so bag up those unwanted clothes, bedding, curtains and return to school. More detail will follow next Friday.
