Pupils from Y2–Y6 will be undertaking national numeracy and reading tests between 7th and 14th May. This year, Reading tests and Numerical Reasoning tests will continue to be paper-based. The Numerical Procedural test will be an online personalised assessment. This online test is a tailored assessment of each pupil’s individual skills with questions being levelled based on the response of previous answers. Marking is automatic and feedback is available to schools the day after the test has taken place. Once all assessments have been completed, we will inform parents of how to access their child’s feedback

On the 11th March, Ffion J from Year 3 took part in the Cardiff and Vale of Glamorgan Junior Harp recital at St David’s Hall along with 26 other Junior harpists. Conducted by Mrs Eluned Henry, they played a total of three pieces on stage in front of parents and onlookers. The performance was given great accolade by all present on the evening and after many weeks of rehearsals, everything fell into place on the night!
The children in Year 3 are delighted to announce that their recent International Café raised £188.07. They have decided to spend some of their profit on a topic-related treat and so we have arranged for Rudy from the Artisan Pizza company to visit the Year 3 classes next Thursday, 11th April.The children have decided to donate their remaining profit to charity. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to support this event.

BATTERY RECYCLING COMPETITION
Miss Price and the school’s ECO Council have entered a competition to win £2000 worth of equipment for the school if we collect the most used batteries!
Next week your child will come home with a mini battery collection box – please put any used AA, AAA, C and D batteries in it and we will remind you when to bring them in. Pass the word to family and friends too! The competition closes on 3rd June.
Y2 parents Mr Palfrey and Ms Quinn have very kindly volunteered to paint Mr Jarvis’s classroom during the Easter Holidays on 17th and 18th April. If anyone from across the school would like to assist them, please contact Mrs Waddington, the Deputy Head, for further details.
JUNIOR BAKE OFF
The television production company Love Productions, who make programmes such as The Great British Bake Off and The Great British Sewing Bee are looking for talented young bakers between 9 -15 years old to take part in the 5th series of ‘Junior Bake Off’.
Filming would take place from late July 2019, but applications close on Monday 6th May 2019. Please see the attached flyer for contact details.

So Miss Harries’ R/Y1 class are this week’s winners in the Foundation Phase – well done! In KS2, Mr Blasizza’s Y5 pupils had a fantastic 100% attendance this week. Both classes will have extra play next week and another sticker on the graph…..
THE GREAT SULLY EASTER TRAIL
The weather is looking slightly better for Sunday, so we are looking forward to seeing those who have bought a ticket at this fun family event.
Please arrive between 2pm and 3pm to start – teams will leave Jubilee Hall at timed intervals and everyone will need to be back at the hall for 4.15pm for the results at 4.45pm (the trail takes about an hour to complete). If you do have to wait for your start time, there will be plenty of things to keep the children busy including biscuit decorating and Easter themed crafts, lucky dip, cake & sweet treats stalls and teas, coffees and hot chocolate!

Our annual Spring BBQ is set to be a great night, we have live music from the local band ‘Creatures of Habit’, bouncy castles, face painting, food, a licensed bar and much more…….. and all this great entertainment on our school grounds!
We do need some help for our raffle, we are asking each year group to make a themed hamper, so if every child can bring in an item we would be very grateful. We hope to make up eight fabulous hamper so please take a look at the list below to see what your child’s year group is donating:

SUMMER FAYRE ADVERTISING BROCHURE
The Summer Fayre advertising brochure is a great way to promote your business. As previously it will be an A5 full colour booklet, but this year it is going to be slightly different in that we will send it home with every child, it will not be a ticket for the fayre and so all parents will get a copy.
Fleur Riggs has put the brochure together for the PTA for many years and does a marvellous job. The brochure is a great way to get funds into the school and promote your business at the same time so if you would like more information please email Fleur
The circus sales have certainly gone off with a bang and we have sold more than half the seats already so don’t miss out on this great show!
The PTA would like to thank Councillor Lino Scaglioni and Isis-Print for the fantastic posters and flyers they have produced for the circus at no cost to the PTA – these posters have certainly done a fantastic job in marketing our event.
