STEM WEEK –  11th to 15th March

Can anyone support our Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths Week?  If you work in any of these areas and you are available to come into school to talk about your experiences, please let your child’s teacher know.  Diolch yn fawr!

The Vale of Glamorgan is now enrolling for the Reception class September 2019 intake.  If you know anyone who would like their child to attend our school (in Reception only), please ask them to contact Admissions on 01446 709844.

One of the aims of Sully Primary School is to ensure our pupils are responsible global citizens, see below for more details.  Next week, Mr Williams and Mrs Parry will be accompanying six Yr 6 pupils to Izmir, Turkey.  Whilst Mr Williams is accompanying the pupils, Mrs Waddington will be acting headteacher.

Mrs Parry writes…

As you may have heard earlier this year, our school is very proud to be coordinating an Erasmus+ pupil exchange project this year. The project is called ‘Learn It, Use It, Share It’ and we will be working with our international partner schools in Portugal, Turkey, Czech Republic and Romania. The main priorities of the project are to develop relevant and high quality digital competence skills whilst increasing opportunities for pupils to meet new people and learn more about life and culture across Europe. Throughout the project, all Year 6 pupils will develop their digital competence, work alongside their peers in Wales and electronically with pupils in our partner countries, and develop their communication and social skills.

The project started in November when pupils from our partner countries attended lessons in Sully Primary. All Year 5 and Year 6 pupils collaborated with international pupils and thoroughly enjoyed the chance to make new friends and learn about life in another country.

This year, small groups of Year 6 pupils will visit each of our partner countries to attend lessons and learn more about life in that country. They will take part in lessons designed to help them develop their digital skills as well as take part in school trips to allow them to learn more about the country they are visiting. The first international visit will take place next week when a group of Year 6 pupils will be attending lessons at our partner school in Turkey. The pupils are very excited and looking forward to the opportunity.

A TV company wants to hear from parents who are proud of the way they raise their children and who have a particular child-rearing strategy as they are looking for Britain’s Best Parent. Whether raising kids in a couple or singly they want to hear from parents who would like to share their approach with others. You will need to have at least one child between the ages of five and thirteen to take part.

If anyone would like to apply or would like to find out any more information about the series, please send your name, contact details and a little information about your family to  Please also see the attached flyer.

The Y2 children would be very grateful for helpers for their forthcoming ‘Kerbcraft’ sessions, dates to be confirmed.  The sessions will take place on Tuesday afternoons, please let the Y2 teachers or the office know if you can help out.  Thank you!

Our whole-school attendance figure for this week is 94.4%, well below our school target of 96.4%.

Individual class figures were as follows:

DG 91.3%

SH 94.3 %

AB/SR 94.7%

CH 98.7%

DJ 97.3%

CP 94.4%

CDW 94.4%

JBz 95.8%
