 SCHOOL PHOTOS

The school photographer will be coming in to school next Tuesday, 25th September, to take individual photos.  All children will have their photograph taken and will bring home a proof a week or so later.  We will put children in to sibling groups and have their photo taken together as well.  Please note that you are under no obligation to buy these photos.

If you would like your child to have a photo with siblings who are not in Sully, please bring them into school between 3.20pm and 3.45pm.

Please send your child in to school that day in uniform and wearing a jumper or cardigan, without which they will not show up against the background!

READING WORKSHOPS FOR PARENTS

These workshops will take place this coming Wednesday, 26th September between 4pm and 6pm and will focus on areas such as the use of Lexia, ‘Read Write Inc’, how to listen to your child read, supporting comprehension development and how to support the more able reader.  The workshops will be led by class teachers and will be age/stage appropriate.   Mrs Sheldon will also be running ALN workshops should parents wish to attend those as well.

The event will consist of two 50-minute sessions to allow parents with children in more than one year group to attend two different presentations.  To assist with childcare arrangements, children will be able to remain in the hall where they will be supervised whilst watching a suitable film.

MIDDAY SUPERVISORS REQUIRED

If any parent, or anyone you know, is interested in becoming a Midday Supervisor, please contact the school office for more details.

PARKING OUTSIDE SCHOOL

The following has been received from the Road Safety Officer at the Vale of Glamorgan Council with regards to Burnham Avenue:

“To further enhance the  safety of children going to and from your school,  the Vale of Glamorgan Council has recently standardised parking restrictions on the ‘School Keep Clear Markings’ and has installed signage to reflect these changes.

The restrictions are legally enforceable and are as follows:-

8am to 9.30am   and    2.30pm to 4pm.

I would be grateful if you could alert your parents accordingly.”

Furthermore, it has been brought to our attention that parents are driving and parking dangerously on Minehead Avenue in the mornings.  Please do not park over or on residents’ drives, on the pavement or on the grass verges and do not three-point turn in the road but follow the voluntary one-way system around Minehead Avenue.

PLEASE DO NOT WAIT UNTIL A CHILD IS INJURED, OR WORSE, BEFORE DRIVING AND PARKING WITH CONSIDERATION.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS…

Please find attached a letter from Mr Williams regarding attendance.
