 NEW PARENT-GOVERNORS REQUIRED

The school requires two new parent-governors and elections will take place shortly.

Nomination forms will be emailed to you next Thursday, 20th September.  If the school had no email address for you on our computer system then you will receive a paper copy on that day.

Nominations should be returned as per the instructions given on the email or letter, no later than Thursday 27th September.

Should a ballot be required, then further instructions will follow.

SAFETY FIRST

Whole grapes are one of the main choking hazards for young children.  May we remind you to please cut grapes in half if you are putting them in your child’s snack or lunchbox.

MUSIC LESSONS

Music lessons have started this week.  If your child still wishes to start lessons, please register with the music service or individual music teacher over the weekend so that lessons can proceed promptly.  Details can be found on previous newsletters, which are also available on the school website.

HEALTHY LUNCHBOXES…

If your child brings their own lunch, please ensure that it is a healthy meal.  There are plenty of websites with inspirational ideas and recipes to help you make healthy and delicious packed lunches!  Take a look at www.bbcgoodfood.com/howto/guide/school-packed-lunch-inspiration or www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/healthier-lunchboxes.

Please note that all waste from your child’s packed lunch will be sent home so that you are able to monitor how much they have eaten.

SCHOOL CLUBS

Lunchtime and after-school clubs will start during the week commencing 24th September.  Clubs available are now on the school website under the ‘Our School’ tab and the children will be able to sign up for those aimed at their age group next week.

Letters will be sent home for any clubs which require parental permission. Please return the forms promptly so that children can join in as soon as the clubs start.

SCHOOL PHOTOS

The school photographer will be coming in to school on Tuesday 25th September to take individual photos.  All children will have their photograph taken and will bring home a proof a week or so later.  We will put children in to sibling groups and have their photo taken together as well.  Please note that you are under no obligation to buy these photos.

If you would like your child to have a photo with siblings who are not in Sully, please bring them into school between 3.20pm and 3.45pm.

Please send your child in to school that day in uniform and wearing a jumper or cardigan, without which they will not show up against the background!

Y6 ABERNANT MEETING

A reminder of the meeting, next Tuesday, 18th September, at 8.30am in Miss Martin’s Y6 classroom.

TERM-TIME HOLIDAYS

Requests for a holiday during term-time should be made on a form available from the school office and completed and returned to the school as far in advance as possible and at least 7 days before the first date of the period of absence being notified.

Taking a holiday during term time means that children miss important school time – both educationally and for other school activities. Before booking a holiday, parents/carers are asked to consider the effect on their child’s continuity of education.

All absence during term-time, other than for illness or another previously-agreed reason, will now be recorded as unauthorised and will affect your child’s attendance record.  It is vital however, that you still inform the school that your child will be away, as the safety of our pupils is of the utmost importance to us and time is spent establishing the whereabouts of children absent without reason.

Please avoid absences during the time when the National Literacy and Numeracy Tests take place (May 7th to May 14th 2019).

Our attendance target this year is 96.1%.  We appreciate your support in achieving this.
