Orders received for class photographs have now been sent off. Photos can be still be ordered directly from Colorfoto but may incur a postage charge. Details of how to do this are on the proof sheets.
The grandmother of one of our pupils has lost a stone from a piece of jewellery during the KS2 Sports Day on Thursday. She was sitting by the goalpost nearest the main school entrance when she felt the stone pop out of its setting. Please can anyone who was sat in that vicinity check their bags, clothes etc as something that small could have ended up anywhere. A fingertip search of the field has failed to find it!
On Tuesday 17th July at 5.30pm we will be holding a Music Concert to celebrate the musical talent in our school. Children in the choir and selected children who play a musical instrument will be performing. Those children who will be taking part in the concert will be bringing home a letter tonight.
This year’s Modern Foreign Languages Week will take place between Monday 2nd and Friday 6th July. If any parents who speak another language would like to come to share it with the children, it would be very much appreciated. We would like to continue from the success of last year and keep learning about other languages from around the world.
Please send a note in with your child if you would like to take part.
Please telephone the school office or tell your child’s teacher if they are being collected by someone else at the end of the day.
A WARM WELCOME
We will be saying a sad farewell to Mrs C. T. Williams at the end of this term as she enjoys her well-earned retirement and to Miss Eaton as she begins a sabbatical with Cardiff University. The past fortnight has been a very busy one as we observed and interviewed candidates to continue their good work from September.
We were fortunate enough to shortlist a number of very talented professionals and I am delighted to be able to welcome Ms Rachel Western as our Nursery teacher from September. Ms Western currently works in Severn Primary School, Cardiff.
We will also welcome Miss Gilmore back to the school in September. Miss Gilmore will be a familiar face to our Year 2 children and is currently teaching in Barry Island Primary School.
FOUNDATION PHASE ART EXHIBITION
The children in the Reception, Y1 and Y2 classes will be holding an exhibition of their artwork in the school hall next Thursday between 3pm and 5pm. Their pictures have been framed and will be for sale, with the proceeds supporting charity ‘East African Playgrounds’.
We were very lucky to have enjoyed two highly successful sports days this week. A huge thank you to the children who did us all proud and for those parents and grandparents able to join us on Wednesday and Thursday for their support.
ATTENDANCE FOR THIS WEEK
Our whole-school attendance figure for this week is a 93.9%, our target being 97%.
Individual class figures were as follows:
So this week’s best attenders are Miss Harries’ Rec/Y1 class in the Foundation Phase and Mrs Boyle’s Y3 class by a whisker in KS2! Both classes will get ten minutes extra play next week.
Father’s Day was a great success all round, the children loved picking a gift for their Dad, and having it wrapped. These events are always a favourite for the PTA to see the children so focused on deciding what to buy.
We made a huge profit on the day of £750
Well, two contrasting days, one a bit wet and one very hot, both great fun!
We hoped you enjoyed your refreshments and cakes.
Thank you to everyone who donated such fabulous cakes – we made another huge profit for our school of £405.
The Summer Fete is only two weeks away and tickets are on sale every day. Buy one early and you don’t need to queue on the day, you can use the fast track entry!
Jolly Jars – Your child will have brought home a plastic cup and letter tonight, have fun filling your cup and wrapping it ready to sell at the summer fete. Please return them by Thursday 5th July.
Any parents/relatives with local businesses wishing to donate a raffle prize for the school fete please contact Karen Fletcher or deliver any prize to the school office. You could generate some new business and get your company name better known in the community! (email: firstname.lastname@example.org)
Personalised Tea Towels
Over the last few weeks all the children in the school have drawn their faces, and we have used them to design two tea towels, one for the foundation phase and one for the juniors.
Next week we will send home a letter and a return slip if you would like to buy one (or more).
These are a lovely, fun keepsake of all the children in Sully School so watch out for the letter next week!
Thank you for your continued support for the school via PTA events.
